A new kind of groups website

A private group space where nobody reads over your shoulder.

We don't censor you indiscriminately, and we don't stand over your shoulder watching every post you make. Your group talks, shares, swaps, and lends, and your group makes the rules.

  • Invite-only
  • Invisible to Google
  • No ads, ever
  • No Facebook account needed
Our free-speech promise

Say what you mean. We won't delete it.

Most group platforms employ moderators and train software to scan your posts for anything someone, somewhere, might object to. Then they remove it, often without telling you why. We think that's backwards.

On Frendivo, the only people who moderate your group are the people who run it. We don't read your conversations. We don't scan posts for keywords or opinions. We don't hide, demote, or label anything. And we never remove a post because of the religious, political, or personal views it expresses, however unpopular those views are.

We protect unpopular speech, because no one has to protect popular speech.
How far does that go?
Start a group called “We Hate Frendivo and Hope It Dies a Horrible Death.” Invite everyone you know. It stays up. That's the point.

The only line we draw is the law. Content that is blatantly illegal, such as child sexual abuse material, genuine threats of violence against a real person, or anything a court orders removed, comes down, and so does spam. That's the whole list, and if we ever remove something, we tell you exactly what and why.

Ever been banned for “violating community guidelines” without being told which one? You're who we built this for.

How it works

Up and running in three steps

  1. Create your group

Pick your group type and give it a name. It takes under a minute, and groups of up to 10 are free.

  2. Invite your people

Share an invite link by text or email, or print the ready-made QR flyer for a bulletin board. You decide whether new members need approval.

  3. Talk, share, and swap

Discussion boards and a swap board with a fair claim queue, all visible only to members. Photos, a lending shelf, and a weekly email are on the way.

Private means private

Your group stays inside your group

“Secure” is easy to say. Here is exactly what we do.

  • Invite-only.Nobody gets in without your link or your approval. If a link leaks, rotate it with one click.
  • Invisible to Google.Posts, photos, and member lists sit behind a login. Search engines can't reach them.
  • Not even we can browse it.Frendivo can't look through what's posted in your group. If someone reports a post or image to us, we see that one item and nothing else. Anything more would violate your privacy.
  • Photos stay inside. When photo sharing opens, even a copied photo link won't open for someone who isn't a member.
  • You decide who's in.Remove someone and they lose access on their very next click.
  • Your number stays yours.Choose what contact details each of your groups can see.
  • No ads. No selling data.Groups pay for Frendivo, so you aren't the product.
What you can do

Everything a real group actually uses

Discussion boards

Separate boards for announcements, general talk, and whatever else your group needs. Newest posts first, always; no algorithm deciding what you see.

Shared photos Coming soon

Albums for events, trips, and everyday life, visible only to members.

Swap board

For sale, free, and wanted posts that expire on their own, so the board never fills up with stale listings.

Fair claim queue

Giving something away? People line up in order. If the first person doesn't show, the next one is notified. No more “I said it first!”

Lending shelf Coming soon

List the ladder, tent, or tile saw you're happy to lend. Borrowers request it, you approve it, and return reminders go out automatically.

Weekly digest Coming soon

One email a week with what's new in each of your groups. No app to install, no notifications buzzing all day.

Sign-up sheets

Meal trains, volunteer shifts, potlucks and carpools. Members claim a slot, and get a reminder the day before.

Polls and find-a-date

Ask a quick question, or let everyone tick the dates that work for them.

Split a bill

You paid; the group pays you back. Split evenly, or let everyone tap what they ordered, with tax and tip shared fairly. Pay buttons open Venmo, PayPal or Cash App with the amount filled in.

Chip in

A gift, a trip, a repair: post what it will cost and members pledge what they can, by name or anonymously. A progress bar shows how close you are, and you see who has paid.

Member directory

An opt-in directory of phone numbers, addresses and birthdays, only for your group. Moderators can print it.

Safety check

In an emergency, alert every member at once and see who has marked themselves safe, with one click from the email.

Anonymous posts

For sensitive prayer requests or asking for help: your name is hidden from members, but moderators still know who posted.

Your archive

Moderators can download the whole group, every post and reply, any time. Your history is yours.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will Frendivo delete our posts?

Not for what they say. We don't remove posts because of the religious, political, or personal views they express, however unpopular. The only content we remove is content that is blatantly illegal, such as child sexual abuse material, genuine threats of violence against a real person, or material a court orders taken down. Everything else is up to your group's own moderators.

Can I really start a group that criticizes Frendivo?

Yes. A group called "We Hate Frendivo and Hope It Dies a Horrible Death" is welcome here. Criticism of us is speech like any other, and it stays up.

Who moderates a group?

The people who run it. Every group has an owner who can add moderators, write the group's rules, remove posts, and remove members. Frendivo staff don't moderate groups.

Can Google or strangers see our posts?

No. Groups are invite-only, and everything inside a group, including posts, photos, and the member list, requires a member login. None of it can be found by search engines.

Can Frendivo staff read our group?

As with any website, the people who run the servers technically could, and we won't pretend otherwise. Our promise is about what we do: we don't browse groups, and we only look at specific content when the law requires it. The one automatic check is that uploaded images are compared against fingerprints of known child sexual abuse images.

Do members need a Facebook account?

No. Members join with an invite link and sign in with a one-time link sent to their email. There are no passwords to remember.

Is it free? Who pays?

Groups of up to 10 members are free. Groups of 11 to 50 members are $10 a month, groups of 51 to 100 are $20 a month, and groups of 101 or more are $50 a month, paid by the organizer. Yearly billing gets two months free. Members never pay.

Do linked groups each get 10 free members?

No. Groups that share a board count their members together, by unique person. Five linked groups of ten people count as one group of 50.

Who can use Frendivo?

Frendivo is a U.S. service, built on U.S. free-speech law. Members must be 13 or older, and group organizers must be 18 or older.

Your people. Your rules. Nobody watching.
